The chess tournament was
awesome; it was very well run with
lots of adult supervision to help
with any questions or issues we had
during or at the end of the game.
The massive enclosed undercover
area had fantastic air circulation,
with no distractions to interrupt
our game play or plan.
The breaks in-between matches
were just enough to get our mental
muscles to relax, ready in time for
the next game. At lunch, Dean (The
School Chaplain), had a footy in
his car, so we relaxed after the
canteen lunch (they had chess
tournament specials). During the
six hours, we played eight
tournament games and some other
“friendly” games.
Our Team – Cameron O, Ryan M,
Marty M and Ryan L, did
exceptionally well. We came first
in the Teams event – we nearly
doubled the points of the second
placed team. In the individual
competition – Ryan M and I came a
tie for first place (second place
wasn’t awarded because of the tie),
Marty came third and Ryan L came
fourth. Our Kawungan team took
out the top four individual places.
Thanks to Dean for taking us and
Mr. Brennan for organizing our
team. Overall, I think it was
fantastic and look forward to doing
it again later on in the year.
